Grand Duchess Olga Romanov was the eldest daughter of Tsar Nicholas II of Russia and Tsarina Alexandra Feodorovna. She was born on November 15, 1895, in the Alexander Palace in Tsarskoye Selo, Russia.
Olga was known for her kind and gentle nature and was very close to her younger brother, Tsarevich Alexei. She was also an avid reader and enjoyed painting and playing the piano.
During World War I, Olga worked as a nurse, providing care to wounded soldiers. She was deeply affected by the suffering she witnessed and became increasingly disillusioned with the war effort.
Following the Russian Revolution in 1917, Olga and her family were placed under house arrest and were eventually moved to Yekaterinburg, where they were imprisoned. On July 17, 1918, Olga and her family were executed by the Bolsheviks.
In 1991, the remains of Olga and her family were finally found and were interred in St. Petersburg's Peter and Paul Cathedral. In 2000, Olga and her family were canonized as saints by the Russian Orthodox Church.
